When you need a line

For whatever the moment asks.

For a slow morning

“What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Something to get you moving, matched to how you feel today.

For a friend

“Not all those who wander are lost.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

The right words to send someone who needs them, as a message or a card.

For a toast or a speech

“We know what we are, but know not what we may be.”

Shakespeare, Hamlet

An opening line for a wedding, a leaving do or a graduation, with the source to back it.

For the presentation

“Simplicity is prerequisite for reliability.”

Edsger W. Dijkstra

A line for the first slide that you can cite, not one a dozen other decks already use.

For a quiet evening

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies.”

George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

Or no reason at all. Swipe, read, keep the ones you like.

The story behind

Not just the line. Where it comes from.

Open any quote and read a few sentences on the scene it was said in, how the film changed it, and why it still matters. Written from the source, never from memory.

  • Who said it, to whom, and what prompted it
  • Book versus film, when they differ
  • More from the same author, one tap away

What you can do

Made for long, quiet sessions.

Swipe for the next one

One quote per screen, nothing else. Swipe up for another, by category or by the mood you pick.

A quote for your morning

One line a day, at the time you choose. Premium matches it to how you said you feel.

Sources

Sourced, not scraped.

Most quote apps repeat each other. Quoteworthy only publishes a line when it comes with a citation: the book and chapter, the speech and date, the letter and recipient, or the film and scene.

Lines that were never said by the person they are pinned on are kept out, however popular they are.
